I occasionally provide my opinion of certain novels, particularly if they involve monsters, or alternate history, but for the most part, your Grouchy Historian reads...well.. history...duh.
However, sometimes I step out of my box (ok, I love JD Robb, so whatever) and actually try something new.
So when my bestest buddies at the New York Journal of Books asked me to review this author's debut novel...hey, how could I say no?
So, read my review of The Lonely American, a clearly semi-autobiographical novel (or what is it they say "based on a true story"?) It was a solid first work, not great, but not horrible, and offers a distinctly different viewpoint of the Vietnam War.
