Well, I hate to say it, but I called it again...

Military Ordered To Find $60 Billion in Savings Over Next Five Years

Like, all great liberals, Obamabi is going to GUT the military to pay for his socialist, liberal, big government giveaways to ACORN, the UAW, and all the lefty liberal interest groups that helped get him elected.

SO, as I said in my earlier posts...here it comes, we will surrender in Afghanistan, abandon Iraq and leave Israel to face Iran alone, so Obama can pay his political debts with your money.

Here's more hope and change....unless you're a Marine in Afghanistan....then it's just screw you, right wing bible-thumpin gun-tottin' redneck...no illegal voter registrations, no money for you.

When your foot is in your mouth, stop talking

Well, I took a break from blogging for a while because of personal stuff, but wow, did I miss all the fun.
I mean seriously, the President of the United States has to comment on a local law enforcement manner....because the guy arrested is African-American...and his bud...and apparently an arrogant, obnoxious liberal professor...ooops, I repeat myself.

SOOO, a lesson my Daddy taught me is that when your foot is in your mouth, stop talking.

Obama rushes to quell racial uproar he helped fire

But not for the Obamassiah who will not ever, EVER admit to being wrong...this guy makes Bill Clinton look like a monk when it comes to narcissism.

And the whole race thing....oyyyyy...I thought we were past that...the election of our first mixed race President would heal old wounds, bring us all together...

NOT...so, public relations lesson #1...when you screw up, apologize, take your lumps and move on...I guess he missed that at community organzier training.

Oh, and the whole ObamaCare thing....the Blue Dogs are not stupid and they probably know that Obama will happily throw them under the bus as soon as he passes his crapsandwich healthcare plan and they ain't buyin...poetic justice if you ask me...could this be the beginning of sanity in the modern Democratic party?

House healthcare talks break down in anger

Schadenfreude or Paybacks are a Mother######

Okay, I had more than a little glee at reading this article.

Democrats' New Worry: Their Own Rich Voters

As I stated in yesterday's post, when the Obamabots wake up and find out just how much they are screwed..it's gonna be ugly. I live in Fairfax, Virginia, and I can't wait to see all those IDIOTS in their BMers and Volvos and Lexus SUVs with the Obama stickers start squealing when their taxes go UP, UP, UP. Here's your Hope and Change, you morons.

This is my favorite part of the article:

"Also on Friday a busload of freshmen Democrats went to the White House to plead their case against sharp tax increases with the president and his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. The organizer was Rep. Gerald Connolly, the president of the freshman class whose Northern Virginia district is the richest in the U.S. as measured by median household income."

That's right Gerry, you lying sack of sh**...2010 is right around the corner. All the stupid, guilty white liberals that elected Obama are gonna be coming for you....and I can't wait to watch...Virginia is going to be the bellwether in 2009 when Republicans sweep back into the Governorship...and Fairfax County is the most populous county in the state...our purple state, is gonna turn really red over the next three years as people find out that RICH to Obama means anyone who isn't on the government payroll.

When Your Toadies Turn on You

Hmmmm,
Here's an interesting question...what happens to Obamabi when his media butt-kissers turn on him?

I know it's going to happen, just like it did when Bill Clinton couldn't keep his pants zipped up in the Oval Office.

Here's just a small sample.

What's Next, Mr. President -- Cardigans?

Now to be fair, the Washington Post has not been as obscene in their Obamalove as the New York or the Los Angeles Times, but they did CHEER him when he visited their newsroom...figure that ever happening for Ronald Reagan...

But nonetheless, there are cracks appearing in the Obama facade..and it will be truly magnificent to behold when the media finally turns on him to save THEMSELVES.

Yes that's right, when America starts to figure out how much the media lied and covered up Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, IG-Gate, the GM and Chrysler Thug deals, ALL the ACORN mess, and the absolute corruption and ineptitude of the Obama Administration, look for the media to throw him under the bus to save themselves.

Poetic to be sure.

Remembrance

Outstanding article from Blackfive on one of the original "Band of Brothers."

Airborne Icon and Hero Passes On - Godspeed, Darrell "Shifty" Powers

These men are truly national treasures, and it's sad that we have a bazillion days of national mourning for a pedophile singer weirdo like Michael Jackson, but these men get a few lines in a local paper.

Thank goodness for the Internet so they are not forgotten.

If you have never seen Band of Brothers, I highly recommend it...just watch the "Day of Days" episode if you are not patient enough for the whole series.

Summer Reading

Well, amidst all the $^&*#^$ going on around the country, I have taken time to finally read Jeff Shaara's The Steel Wave, the second novel in his Trilogy about the European Theater in World War II. I have enjoyed many of Shaara's books, particularly his Civil War novels that come before and after his father's Pulitzer Prize winning The Killer Angles, THE BEST novel ever written about the Civil War.

The thing I really like about Steel Wave is that Shaara not only moves the book along by interspersing his story with history, but he conveys the uncertainty of all the players in what is going on.

Clausewitz states that one of characteristics of war is that two intelligent actors (people) are working constantly against each other...warfare is not a static action but a struggle of individuals where chance plays a tremendous role.

In his book, Shaara captures this magnificently and really draws the readers into the doubt and uncertainty that the Allies had over whether they would win the Normandy Campaign and make the D-Day landings successful.

As I have often maintained, too many Americans, poorly schooled in [blech] "social studies" have no real understanding of history and consider that history is merely an inevitable set of circumstances. "Of course the Allies had to win the war, we had more of everything and we were the good guys."

This is clearly not so, for example, if Ike had delayed the landings due to weather from June 6 to June 19, which was the backup date due to tides and moons, the Allies would have landed during the biggest storm in the English Channel in 50 years and the outcome could have been quite different.

History is the result of thousands of decisions of individuals and the effects of those decisions. This novel does an outstanding job of conveying some of the magnitude of what the Allies did in June 1944 and some of the individuals, both generals and privates that made the Normandy Campaign one of the most important battles in history.

Shaara's final book in this series will be out just in time for Christmas...hooray...

My Beloved USNA becomes progressive

Okay, here's another guy who is waaaay, waaay more grouchy than me. Of course, sometimes I think Pat is a few french fries short of a Happy Meal, but he is on to something here.

Dumbing-Down the U.S. Navy

Now, I am going to go out on a limb here to the tippy toes of political correctness and say..."No kidding Pat, they have been doing that since, well at least 1983 (the year I became a plebe at good ol' Canoe U)"
Here's the dirty secret that Pat doesn't know...admission rates don't mean squat, it's graduation rates that count and if 50-60% of those marginally qualified minorities graduate I will be surprised.
See, they don't (yet) have an underwater basket weaving major to help dumb sh**ts and jocks graduate. Everyone has to take the same pain-in-the-ass courses (electrical engineering, physics, calculus, chemistry, celestial navigation-at least in my day, it is now becoming a lost art, and naval architecture) no matter what their major is, and if you can't hack it, you can't hack it.

So, read 'em and weep. I dare say I probably would not even qualify for admission these days..I came from a podunk high school, was an average white guy and I did okay at the SAT (after two tries, long story) but managed to squeak in, where I had to work my butt off, nearly flunk out one semester (another long story) and ended up graduating in the top 1/3 of my class. Not too bad for a hayseed from Oklahoma.

It's the same in flight school, nuke school, even SWOS. Of course I saw (ahem) minority flight students given many more chances to pass than the average white guy or girl would be given. Actually, the girls did quite well, at least at Navigator Training school. (This was in 1989-much before the combat ban was lifted)

The dirty secret is the military of the 1990s (Clinton era) wanted to showcase how progressive they were (and you know how I love progressive things) and I actually saw minority officers promoted way faster than their non-minority counterparts. Call me bigoted if you want, but I was there and I saw it. I think things are better now, because 8 years of war tends to bleed off the bullsh** and combat tends to be a fairly rigorous quality control system, but in the 1990s this was not so.

So in the end, the well meaning (and butt kissing) Naval Academy administration does nothing but likely waste a billet that could have gone to a better qualified (gasp) white male, or female for that matter.

ADDITION:
Forgot to include this...perfect example of Chicago politics brought to Washington...
I can hear the Godfather now..."Reward your friends and punish your enemies" and the coolest part is Obambi gets to punish his enemies with OUR tax dollars...

An Even MORE Grouchy person

Picture from http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0707/usrussia.html

Ralph Peters, who is waaay, waaay more grouchy than me, nonetheless hits the nail right on the head with his latest column.

DESPERATE DEAL OBAMA'S MOSCOW GIVEAWAY

Yet, again our intrepid and naive President Obambi gets schooled by the evil dictator.

I mean seriously, doesn't Putin just scream major Bond villain
"Do you expect me to talk"
"No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die"

But, alas, Obambi is no Bond...and clearly Michelle is also, alas, no Bond babe....put some sleeves on those dresses for goodness sake.

Facing Overwhelming Odds- I go head to head with 3 liberals on Facebook

Okay, so here goes...I occasionally have intense Facebook political discussions with my high school classmate "Lefty Liberal A"... I am accused of stirring the pot by my significant other..which of course is true...I love tweaking my liberal friends and to be honest, Lefty Liberal A gives as good as he gets. I really enjoy our little tete-a-tetes because we both know where we stand. To be honest, we were pretty decent friends in high school since we were both band geeks and he is a pretty decent guy who likes puppies and hates mowing his grass, which I am totally down with.... and our conversations are interesting diversions. But, watch what happens when one of his whiny friends (Lefty Liberal B) buts into to our conversation. I will now replay this conversation verbatim from Facebook with the names changed to protect the innocent (or knuckleheads) and add some fun comments. My comments will be in purple to honor my opponents

Lefty Liberal A
She irritates me even when she's resigning. I'm afraid this won't mean she's going away

Lefty Liberal B
I think she's going to go to Presidential Candidate Camp. And learn thing's like, "the vice-presidential candidate doesn't give a concession speech. And she especially doesn't cry about not getting to give one." Of course, Bill O'Reilly said that she can learn all about the actual United States and its laws and etiquette in four years, right?

Not to be as mean as I could be, but if only her parents had practiced abstinence. Always. {First of all, butt out of our conversation...and wow, what a way to fire me up..see his whining later...}

Lefty Liberal A
I actually felt sorry for her until she started all the martyr crap.

The Grouchy Historian
WELLLLL, speaking as huge Palin fan I believe this is an outstanding flanking maneuver...after all didn't the Obamassiah become qualified to be President by spending 2 years running for President?
Sarah will now support Repub Cong Candidates; raise money for her PAC and avoid all the anklebiters in Alaska while she's doing it...then she can just sit back and watch Obama's economy tank and....

Lefty Liberal A
I don't see how quitting under pressure would demonstrate her fitness for the highest office in the world. I think it is more likely that her shady dealings are catching up to her and she can't take the heat. This woman is a two-bit crooked politician who would have remained in obscurity if not for the desperation of a losing candidate in a losing .... She is just one more element of the brilliant legacy of George W. Bush.

As a Democrat, I sincerely hope that she runs for and wins the Republican nomination.

Lefty Liberal B
Grouchy Historian, if you'rea huge Palin fan, that's your choice. I don't really care for the namecalling like "Obamassiah,"{Seriously, after the abstinence crack you are going to whine about namecalling...brace up cupcake} it reeks of Rush Limbaugh {GOOD}, who defended Mark Sanford by saying he went to Argentina because he couldn't handle the way America was tanking. That's pretty faulty logic, but from a guy who committed multiple felonies involving his drug ... dependence and illegal purchase of prescription medication, I guess it makes sense. And, pretty much all politicians start their presidential campaigns one and a half or two years before the electiion. And, let's not forget, Obama has a degree in constituional law, it took her Palin five schools to earn the easiest degree known to man, "communications." Even Republicans are saying this is a terrible step for her to take if she wishes to run for president. Current thinking is that it has something to do with Todd, the former secessionist, and his shady dealings.

Oh, and I don't believe it would be Obama's economy tanking, it would be OURS.

Lefty Liberal C
Lefty Liberal B
Well said. I dont know how people compare Obama and Palin in the same breath...like you said she needed five schools to get a easy degree. Todd the former secessionist LOL

Lefty Liberal A
I agree, Lefty Liberal B. Well said.

Grouchy Historian
Well....let's see. First of all, I hope everyone had a great 4th...I know I did. So, let's address a few things...
1) I prefer Obambi myself, I came up with that seriously, name calling...remember the last 8 years..Bush was called far worse..... :)
2) Yes, Lefty Liberal A, I suppose as a Democrat you would be well acquainted with crooked politicians- (
... Murtha, Rangel, William Jefferson, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank). The difference is, Republicans generally don't tolerate that kinda crap from our side...remember Randy Cunningham? He's in jail now, why is Charlie Rangel still a committee chairman.hmmm>
3) What is the fascination with Obama's law degree? I don't give a rat's a** what someone's college degree is in...it makes no difference to their leadership skills...does this mean if you don't have an Ivy League degree you can't be President, seriously? Where was Ronald Reagan's Degree? Abraham Lincoln's..this leftie snobbery about college pedigrees is getting really old..

Grouchy Historian
Finally, yes, sadly enough, Obama and the Democrats are firmly in control of the American economy and we shall indeed suffer the effects of their policies, likely to include-inflation, stagflation, energy rationing (can you say gas lines, odd and even license plates, remember those?), and finally the replacement of the American dollar as the world's reserve currency as the Chinese stop buying our debt.
Of course then it will be someone else's economy in 2012, whether Sarah Palin's or not, as the Democrats go down in a landslide of 1980 proportions...

ANY BETS?

Lefty Liberal A
Grouchy Historian, Your party is plummeting off a cliff while hemorrhaging from every orifice. But just keep watching Fox "News" and thinking happy thoughts.

Lefty Liberal A
Also, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were hoping for America to fail. You're either with us or you're with the terrorists... oh wait. That's what you guys say.

Grouchy Historian
Well, I don't disagree that the Republicans (not always my party, mind you) nationally are in a great deal of disarray. Like always, it will be the state organizations that rebuild the national party. And, as always, I must say OBAMA is not AMERICA. I can certanly hope that his socialist and statist agenda fails for the GOOD of America. Time alone will tell who's right. I firmly believe that in 2012, the Republican won't win the Presidential election, OBAMA will lose it...because he will have NO ONE to blame for the failure of his policies....not even W. Of course, if I'm wrong, which does occasionaly happen (I'll tell you about my employment at a dot.bomb company sometime) then Obama has nothing to worry about, the economy will begin to boom, nationalized health care will be a big success and everyone will buy GM cars again.....and there will be candy canes and unicorns for everyone.

I prefer my Fox News, thanks....
Oh, and my patriotic dissent....

Have a great evening !

Lefty Liberal B
All dudes and dudettes--

Honestly. Let's be real. What kind of American wants their president to fail? {EVERY LIBERAL IN AMERICAN FROM 2000-2008. I mean seriously, where the hell has he been. The ENTIRE left hoped we'd fail in Iraq, fail in Afghanistan so they could blame it on Iraq, hated the tax cuts..wow what chutzpah} I'm quite truly exhausted with everyone of all political persuasions wanting the current (and I mean, "current," as in whoever is at the time) person in office to eff up. THAT'S UNAMERICAN. Being a liberal is not being ANTI-American. Being a conservative does not make you PRO-American. The hate being thrown around on both sides is what is killing this country. {Agreed....just like it has poisoned America for the last eight years...but it was okay then....} And Grouchy Historian, I would happily name just as many Republicans who have screwed up and stayed in office (Mark Sanford, God bless his incredibly screwed up psyche--the man needs professional help--comes to mind.

I will never get over anyone who echoes Rush Limbaugh's hope that Obama fails. THAT, to me, is UnAmerican.
...

I'm no Bush fan--the smartest thing he's ever done is disappear--too bad Cheney can't shut up, he's only proving he was the puppetmaster even more. But, I thought he handled 9/11 beautifully.

Lefty Liberal B
And by "he," I mean W. What followed was a mess, but I give the man credit where credit is due.

But, sorry, "Fair and Balanced" is not what Fox News is. And they are smart enough to know that. Good Lord, anyone who thinks Anne Coulter is hot must never have seen a drag queen. Although, I admit, she's very intelligent. And, in her own words--"a Mean Christian."

'Nuff said.

Lefty Liberal A
I just have to add that I don't think Bush handled 9/11 well at all. I think this nation's response was not our finest hour (we should have gotten stoic and resolved instead of hysterical and weepy). I think this, at least in part, reflected Bush's complete lack of leadership. He blew it.

Grouchy Historian
I, of course, have never implied that being liberal is un-American...and I don't hate anyone. I actually think that having a beer or cheeseburger with Slick Willie or Obama would be fine :)
And I don't think it's un-American to oppose a President's POLICIES that I don't agree with (after all didn't the left do that from 2000-2008?)
Lefty Liberal A and I have very spirited discussions, so don't take them personally...who knows...maybe one day we could get one of those political talk shows...on Fox News of course :<>
Oh, and by the way, I think Sanford is a putz, as I would any man who cheats on his spouse. But how long did the media cover up John Edward's love child? hmmm..yea MSNBCBSABC were sure fair and balanced about that?
And yes, the Republican party is plummeting off the cliff...just like they were in 1965, 1977, 1993, 1997....any thing about those dates sound familiar? How about 1968/1972/1980/1984/1988/2000/2004?...
And I would match Ann Coulter aganist Keith Olbermann any day...

Lefty Liberal A
Grouchy Historian, I can't work for Fox "News". Our show will have to be on some legitimate news outlet.

Grouchy Historian
Maybe we can take over Keith Olbermann's show...oh wait, you said a legitimate news outlet...hmmm, how about the mcneil lehrer show?

Lefty Liberal A
I think it's now called "NEWSHOUR with Jim Lehrer" but that works for me.

So in spite of the overwhelming odds..{in my favor of course} they held their own...NOT. Their whining is almost overwhelming. If they can't take a little name calling, then F### 'em, I have watched W and Cheney endure far worse, and just keep chugging. It's a good thing the ready room gave me thick skin...I don't care what you call me, just don't call me late for supper.

:)

Rules to Live By

Okay, I am a pretty structured kinda guy, the legacy of eleven years in the Navy, wearing the same thing to work, following the same NATOPS procedures in the airplane and reliving 180 groundhog days floating around on deployment.

And one of my most important rules is "Never screw when you're drunk and never vote when you're angry"

Well, the American people violated the 2nd part of that rule and are now getting screwed.

467K jobs cut in June; jobless rate at 9.5 percent

Payrolls Fall More Than Forecast, Unemployment Rises

Meanwhile, while normal schlubs are worried about their jobs, mortgages, credit card bills, etc..
our elected representatives are on their excellent adventure:
Congress's Travel Tab Swells

I grant you, the longer Nancy "Oh my God, I can't feel my face" Pelosi stays away, the better, but not on my dime, lady.

AND, on the home front, the Obamassiah continues his carefully managed "town hall" performances with his carefully planted sob story questioners.

  • The president called randomly on three audience members. All turned out to be members of groups with close ties to his administration: the Service Employees International Union, Health Care for America Now, and Organizing for America, which is a part of the Democratic National Committee. White House officials said that was a coincidence.
Yea, and if you believe that, I've got some valuable GM stock to sell you.

The American people have elected the most ideological, incompetent, irresponsible, narcissistic and corrupt Administration in history, to go along with the most leftist Congress since the end of Vietnam.

The reckoning, when the haze of Obambi's popularity wears off and people recognize him for the empty suit he is, will be awesome to behold.....assuming we are not all living in government compounds, eating out of the soup line, or wearing burkhas, the groundswell in 2010 and 2012 could be bigger than the 1994 or even the 1980 revolutions....

I should live so long....:)

Sighhhh....our next Commander in Chief?

I Sure HOPE so, we need some CHANGE at the top.
